This and that...

Things are going well around here. Busy, of course but well. So this is going to be a catch up kind of post, a recap if you will of the last week or so.

Maddie's nose is fine it doesn't hurt anymore and almost all traces of bruising are gone. Thank you, Lord!

Saturday Maddie and I headed down to Bricktown to the Buddy Walk. It is held every year and is lots of fun and also full of information on Down Syndrome. My niece Kylie has DS and she loves the Buddy Walk and we love to support her in anyway we can. My sisters Kim and Dawn and their families were there as well. The newest member of our family, sweet baby Kate showed up with her own Buddy Walk shirt made especially for her. So cute.

Last Sunday our church held it's annual Tent Revival and Ice Cream Social. We checked Fletcher out of TCC and went as a family. We had a good time. Fletcher did well as long as his wheelchair was moving or someone fun was entertaining him! He also really liked the music...a lot! The picture below is the best attempt at a family photo. UGH! Sometimes Fletcher's not the most cooperative kid! :)

Yesterday I purchased the fabric for the shower curtain I'm having made for this project. I'm so excited about the shower curtain that I'm hoping it will motivate me to get it finished. Because I haven't done one thing to that bathroom since my brother put in the lights. So as soon as I finish I'll post pictures.

School continues to go well for both of the girls. Kayleigh's really enjoying high school, she has transitioned well. Kayleigh had a tough blow on Wednesday, her Youth Pastor got another job in another state. She took it really hard. All of the kids were devastated. So, we're happy for Adam and his wife but really sad for us, especially Kayleigh. Maddie was out of school today for conferences. We went to her conference on Monday. She's doing extremely well. I have to brag just a bit, Maddie has 200 site words that she should know by the end of 1st grade, well she know 195 of those words! She amazes her teacher, Mrs. Johnson with her intellect and her personality. On the second day of school Maddie informed her teacher that she was easily distracted. Baahahahaha! One day Mrs. Johnson told her to quit talking and get to work on a paper. Maddie told her that she could just finish it at home. Oh my, Mrs. Johnson has her work cut out for her.

The girls are spending the night with their Mimi and Papa so Craig and I are all alone tonight. We're going to eat leftovers and watch a movie. Wow that's exciting. Have a great weekend!

The nose knows...

Well, Monday night we had our first Wii accident. Maddie was playing baseball on the Wii and was spinning around acting like a crazy person and her face had a run in with the wing back chair! We went to the doctor Tuesday morning and the pediatrician didn't think it was broken, but he told Maddie if it still hurt on Thursday her nose would need to be x-rayed. It was still hurting yesterday so we went and had an x-ray. They called today and said it wasn't broken but if it is still hurting by the middle of next week she will need to see an ENT. So, we'll see what happens. She's got quite a bruise across her nose and it's a bit black under her right eye but she's completely fine. All we can say is 'oh Maddie'...

Wii...

Craig will celebrate his 42nd birthday on Wednesday. Since we'll be at church Wednesday evening we decided to celebrate tonight. I made him a birthday dinner of pepper steak and rice and a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting. It was very yummy. Around May I decided I wanted to get Craig a Wii for Father's Day. Well, I didn't realize how hard they would be to find so no luck for Father's Day. I looked all summer and about a month ago I found one! I bought it and decided it would be the perfect birthday gift for my very sweet husband. Well, Craig and the girls were in front of the TV ALL day. I'm guessing it's a great gift!

Since Maddie is in the first grade she now has 'specials' art, music and PE. Well, she's LOVING music. I videoed her today doing a song and dance she learned this week. I can only imagine she is doing EXACTLY what her music teacher is doing. Watch...

Little Drummer Boy...

Yesterday was Music Therapy day in Fletcher's class. They gave him the coolest drums to play. They were switch activated so when he wanted the drums to play he had to push the big button. He had so much fun playing those drums! Fletcher has also started dancing in his own way. Whenever he hears music he moves his tummy up and down. It's hilarious! Hope you enjoy the video.

Super busy...

I can't believe it's been nearly ten days since my last post. Things have been super busy around here. For the last month I have been working on some big changes in the Children's Department at the church. My friend Courtney and I decided to change things up around there. We prayed and really felt like the Lord gave a scripture/mission statement for our school age kids. Psalm 119:11 tells us, "I have hidden Your Word in my heart so that I might not sin against You." We also decided to call the room where the children have church The Hiding Place. Cool, huh?! I sure think so! And the ball just kept rolling from that point. One of the members of our church built a fort in the room, another member painted this great tree on the outside of the room and another member bought the kids a flat screen TV and new DVD player. Let me tell you a little something, when people 'donate' things to the church they usually aren't new and sometimes they're not even usable! So, for our kids to get all new stuff was pretty awesome for them. My friend Heather and I painted Psalm 119:11 on one of the walls. Courtney and I covered 5 or 6 bulletin boards in cute fabric. Yesterday was The Hiding Place kick-off and the kids loved it! It made the weeks of hard work worth it!

The Fort

Cool TV!

Last Friday Maddie decided she wanted to walk into the school all by herself. So, I, of course, had to video it. This Friday Maddie will have her first spelling test. It just doesn't seem possible, she's growing up so fast! I'm trying to enjoy every moment!
