Community Helpers week

This week at TCC the children are learning about people in community service. So far we have met a Bethany police woman and today the Bethany Fire Department came with their fire engine and their hose! It was great fun. This morning I took Maddie with me to see Bubba and she was able to see the firemen and spray one of the hoses! How fun! Of course, Fletcher was too small, so she told the fireman she wanted to spray the hose for her Bubba! Then Maddie was able to go to school with Fletcher and Fridays are music therapy day. So she sat right next to her Bubba and sang and played instruments with him. Today they started to practice for the Treble Makers concert which will be August 16th. You all are invited to come if you'd like!

Go, Maddie, go!

TCC Olympics

Well, the TCC Olympics went great! Fletcher took 1st place in Smilemania, 2nd place in Demolition and 3rd place in Paci-Rama. Fletcher and his 2 other classmates were called the 'Sweet Peas' pretty cute, huh? It was a lot of fun and we are so grateful to the staff at TCC for all the effort they put into the last three days. I'm sure all the kids had a terrific time. I know Fletcher did! Fletcher's Mimi, his cousins Megan and EmiLee and of course Maddie and Craig and I were there!

Yesterday afternoon I took Maddie and her cousins, Megan and EmiLee to paint pottery at this little place by our house called Clay Biz. We had a great time painting and just hanging out with each other.

It was another great Saturday with Fletcher at TCC. Dawn, Kim, Kaleb and Kylie all came up today. We went to the Farmer's Market and then visited with Bubba.

Kayleigh is still in Mississippi. We miss her more everyday and we are ready for her to come home! We know she's having a great time. She will be home next Friday and she's bringing one of her longtime Mississippi friends, Marley, home with her. Kayleigh and Marley will spend their time together on a 'micro' mission trip with our middle school youth at church. I'm sure it will be a blast for all involved! Well, enough for now, it's getting late!

We're back...

Okay so this post is a little late. We returned from Mississippi last Sunday night. We had great travel, food and hospitality! There is nothing like good ol' southern hospitality! The girls had a great time swimming and seeing lots of family and friends. Kayleigh is still there and will return next Friday.

It's been a busy week here at the Burns house! Maddie has spent her week days with her cousins and yesterday the 2nd annual TCC Olympics began! Fletcher had the great privilege again this year to 'pass the torch'. Tomorrow morning he will 'compete' in several events. I'm not sure how many he will participate in, but we're definitely ready for the Kiss -a-rama and the Smilemania events! It should be a lot of fun. I am going to take Maddie and her cousins to TCC so they can show their support! I will post pictures from the Olympics later.

Summer Fun Day!

Today was Summer Fun Day at TCC. They had two different areas set up for the kids to be able to enjoy being outside. On the playground they had all kinds of different textures to feel, drums to drum and the swing! Fletcher loves to swing. In the courtyard they had bubbles, an inflatable bouncer and about 7 little swimming pools. This would be the first time for Fletcher to 'swim' He didn't even have swim trunks, so I had to call his friends Max and Zeke and see if they had some he could borrow. His sweet teacher DeLisa sat in a little swimming pool and held him, hoping he would like to kick and splash in the water. Well, we all know Fletcher, he really didn't like the water but he powered right through having a few fun moments! I'm sure it was more fun for me than him. Swinging, drumming and swimming all in all a great day!

Tomorrow we are leaving to take Kayleigh to Mississippi. Please be praying for us as we travel and for Fletcher since he'll be here without us. His Mimi and several of his aunts will take shifts to make sure he's not too lonely while we're gone. I'm sure it will be harder for us than him. We're not used to being away from Fletcher. We hope it will be a nice little break for us. Maddie hasn't been to Mississippi since she was 14 months old. She is very excited to stay with her Monna and Pops! Craig, Maddie and I will return on Sunday and Kayleigh will come home on July 27th. So, that will be a nice little vacation for her.

I will not update my blog until we get back. Thanks for your prayers and I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Great News!

I got a call a few days ago that Fletcher CT scan came back and that the lesion on his skull has NOT changed! Thank you, Jesus! Last Thursday TCC tested him for MRSA and he is now negative and no longer in an isolation unit! Fletcher has been MRSA positive for about 15 months. MRSA is what made him resistant to a lot of antibiotics it was in his trach and at one time it was in his ears. It also caused him to be in a unit with other MRSA kids and anyone who worked with him had to wear a gown and gloves. We are so grateful for this great news!

Happy 4th!

Well, we had another successful day at home with Bubba! Thanks for your prayers. We picked Fletcher up at about 9:30 and spent a quite morning at home. Craig's parents came over at about 2:00 and we had hamburgers and hot dogs and the rest of the afternoon was uneventful just like we like it! We took Fletcher back to TCC at 8:00 and stayed with him until they kicked us out at 9:00. We watched fireworks at TCC on the lawn where they have the Farmer's Market. It was great fun. Hope you all had a terrific day as well!

Saturdays at TCC

Saturday Fletcher turned 2 1/2 years old! I can't believe how fast time flies! For the last couple of weeks, two of my sisters (Kim and Dawn) have been coming to TCC to see Fletcher and take advantage of the Farmer's Market. We sure look forward to the great tomatoes (almost as good as my daddy's used to be!) and the laughs that abound when I'm with my sisters! Those girls are hilarious and such a blessing to me!

Fletcher, Aunt Kimmy and Aunt Dawny

Well, Wednesday is July 4th. We are going to bring Fletcher home for the afternoon. Of course, we'll all wear our Old Navy July 4th t-shirts. So, I'll update next time with those fun pictures. We'd sure appreciate your prayers that we'd have a sweet time at home with Fletcher.

On Thursday we will have Fletcher's Patient Care Conference (PCC) these meetings take place every three months. The doctor, nurse practitioners, RT, PT, OT, Speech Therapist and anyone else who works one-on-one with Fletcher will be in attendance. It's a great time for Craig and I to voice our concerns and ask any questions we might have. They also inform us of Fletcher's improvements, needs and anything we might need to know. Before each conference they measure Fletcher and he has been 28 inches for at least a year. :( Well, last Friday they measured him and he has grown a full inch!!!!!!! WooHoo! Way to go Bubba!

We're still waiting for the results on the CT scan. I'll let you you, when I know. Need to go for now!
